Alicia Gimeno

Alicia is one of Spain must up-and-coming artist of her generation.

Alicia Gimeno (b. 1989) is a Spanish artist based in Barcelona.

Alicia's work does not require grand chromatic explosions. It's not that color is absent, but rather that the artist simply doesn't need it to express through painting. Her intention, through the representation of her abstract calligraphies infused with botanical essence, is to invite the viewer to introspection, to contemplation, where one discovers oneself as part of a natural whole, part of a nature we often forget we are a part of. A representation of roots, to ponder how close we are and how close we should be to the purest and simplest aspects of the planet.

These paintings are not merely an exploration in the visual realm, but rather seek to delve into the energetic expression of the brushstroke through movement. The Qì, 氣, the purest essence, which also lives within us, expressed through the movement of the brush, the ink, much like in oriental calligraphy. In her studies of Eastern thought, Alicia delves into different concepts that she seeks to experience, portray, and comprehend through her work, such as Wabi Sabi, the flag of beauty in imperfection, or Ma 間, the negative space that can only be understood in its context.

In 2024, her work has been included in two group shows one in Matarò (Spain) and one in Toronto (Canada). In 2023, she participated in a group show at the gallery Lab 36 in Barcelona, a place dedicated to artistic and creative talents in Barcelona. She is part of the Casa Estudio Granados, an artists' movement and gallery based in Barcelona and Menorca. Alicia featured in art and design magazines (Architectural Digest (AD), Widewalls) and recently completed a monumental fresque in a Parisian hotel. This summer, she has given art and poetry seminars in different magical places in Spain.

She studied graphic design at the University of Mexico and developed her artistic career in Barcelona, focusing on the study of botanical forms through abstract calligraphy.  Her artworks are included in private collections worldwide, including in Geneva.

Pau Escat
In his artworks, Pau Escat bridges the realms of jewelry and art by incorporating gold, thereby facilitating a unique intersection of these two domains.

Pau Escat (b. 1984) is an abstract artist based in Barcelona, Spain.

His passion for art has led him to develop a prominent career in the field of contemporary art. His approach is characterized by the combination of natural and abstract elements to create lively and colorful works that capture the viewer's attention and invite them to reflect.

From an early age, Escat showed an interest in creativity. He pursued his passion for painting, studying in the United States before training as a jeweler due to his great admiration for gemstones and the way they shimmer through light. His experience in the world of jewelry has further enriched his artistic style, allowing him to incorporate dazzling textures and reflective elements in his work, creating mesmerizing visual experiences.

Pau Escat artwork is a captivating exploration into the realm of abstract landscapes, reflections of light, and the essence of silence. His unique approach to his craft is demonstrated through his use of reclaimed cotton and linen fabrics, serving as the canvas of his creations. By employing natural pigments, inks, and acrylics, he brings forth a harmonious balance between the natural world and the abstract. His abstract work evokes an ethereal sense of connection, inviting the viewer to reflect on the inherent beauty present in the world around us.

The thematic focus of Escat's work delves into the unspoken language of nature, interpreting its subtleties and magnificence through intricate visual elements. A language that is spoken by the environment, by the creatures that inhabit it, and by the natural forces that shape it. This language we must learn through observation and experience. Fascinated by the interplay of light, Escat masterfully captures its elusive and transformative qualities within his artworks. The reflections of the light serve as a reminder of the fleeting nature of our experiences and the importance of cherishing the present moment.
